Book Review: Moments Of Joy by Ysa Arcangel

Title: Moments Of Joy

Author: Ysa Arcangel

Genre: Romance

Release Date: April 25, 2017

With her family history of Alzheimer’s and at great risk of acquiring the disease, Brandy Curtis always plays safe. She had always avoided commitments like the plague.

However, everything changed when she met Ivo, a gorgeous doctor with irresistible charm. He was just supposed to be another hookup, but he quickly became so much more.

It started as a one night stand which was followed by another, and another. The more nights they spent together, the more Brandy felt that life had given her something to live for.

The timing couldn’t be worse. As her heart gets closer to Ivo, her memories begin to fade.

Will Brandy be able to actually have moments of joy with Ivo against the odds of losing herself into the recesses of her tangled brain?

In this book, the MC is Brandy, a girl who has a family history of Alzheimer’s disease. The puzzling thing is that only the women in her family acquire this disease. She already knows that she’s going to be the next one to have it and because of that, she refuses to have serious relationships.

She went to Verona, Italy to attend her brother’s wedding. While she was roaming the streets of Verona, she was able to meet Agata, one of the “Secretaries of Juliet” also known as those people who write back to letter senders and seek for love advice. Since her job in Boston is pretty much the same (she also writes love advice and has a column), Brandy decided to volunteer to be one of the Secretaries of Juliet. That’s where she met Ivo (Agata’s brother). At first, they only had an agreement to have a one night stand but then it turned into repeated hookups and finally developed into something more serious.

I really loved the character of Brandy. She’s strong and brave despite knowing that she already has the early signs of Alzheimer’s. I also loved how Ivo fell for her and decided to help with her condition as he is a psychologist and a professor. He was flawless for me up until that one rash decision that he made (I’d like this to be spoiler-free so I won’t write it here, you have to read the book to find out!). But I guess that also made them closer and their relationship stronger.

This book gave me The Kiss Quotient vibes and if you loved that book then I highly recommend that you read this too! A heartwarming, steamy and unputdownable read! Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

“I grew up in a family of boys, Ivo. I grew up strong. Independent. I don’t want to cling to anyone and depend on anyone except myself.”
